Is there any lip product that Bite releases that isn’t pure perfection? These new lip pencils are the latest addition to the Bite Beauty range and I couldn’t be happier.
Just when you thought Bite was already owning the whole lip industry with their latest Everyday Agave collection, they come out with lip pencils to add the cherry on top. I was lucky enough to receive the Bite x Influenster VoxBox to review the lip pencils.
I never realized the importance of lip pencils until I started getting more and more into lipsticks and noticed the bleeding that may occur. Not only do lip pencils help with the bleeding of lipsticks, but they also define the shape of your lips so much better than just using lipsticks on their own.
The new lip pencil collection from Bite features 22 shades to choose from and retail for $20 CAD/$18 USD at Sephora. Like a classic lip liner, the pencils are wood-barrelled and come pre-sharpened. When I mean pre-sharpened, I literally mean, super sharpened and ready to be used!
Upon receiving the box, besides the fact that I was super excited because Bite is my favourite lipstick brand, I was pleasantly impressed that the box consisted of a nude shade and a dark shade for the lip pencils with mini lipsticks to pair them with. The box also contained a biodegradable pencil sharpener by Sephora Collection (I didn’t even know the sharpeners could be biodegradable!)
1. Lip Pencil in 020 & Bite Amuse Bouche in Honeycomb
Starting with the nude shade lip pencil and lipstick combo, I knew I would like the mini lipstick already because the lipstick was included in one of the Bite holiday sets from this past year. My initial thoughts on the lip pencil when applying was that it was super smooth and pigmented. It didn’t feel like it was tugging at my lips and I had no issue lining my lips at all. It also didn’t feel like it was drying out my lips and I didn’t find any issues with the product ‘pilling’ or ‘rolling up’ like I’ve experienced with some other lip liners.
The shade 020 paired up perfectly with the lipstick in ‘Honeycomb’ and definitely defined my lips a lot better than if I didn’t line my lips before hand.
I’m really impressed and happy with the outcome of this combination. With 22 shades to choose from and my collection of Bite lipsticks, I’m definitely going to be picking up more pencils to match with my lipsticks.
2. Lip Pencil in 044 & Bite Amuse Bouche in Whiskey
I wasn’t too sure how well the darker lip liner would work on me because darker shades tend to be less forgiving when it comes to bleeding lips. I’m also not a regular dark lip wearer so it could just be that I’m fairly messy when applying lipstick and just don’t notice when I wear lighter shades.
But, these lip pencils being so smooth and easy to apply made it super easy to nicely line my lips and all that was left was just the application of the lipstick. In combination with their already super pigmented and moisturizing lipsticks, this was unbeatable. While I have some edges that aren’t as defined as I’d like, it was most likely my shaky hand that messed up the liner to make it look like the lipstick is bleeding through.
I was so impressed with this combination and shade itself, I just had to take some more pictures of me wearing the lipstick than just a photo of my lips.
I’m super happy with the lip pencils and would definitely recommend them to everyone who’s looking for a lip pencil. With 22 shades to choose from, you’d definitely be able to find a shade that either matches your lipstick exactly or is super close. I hope Bite continues on this range and expands it because they’ve got quite the assortment of lipsticks.
What are some of your favourite lip pencils? Have you picked these up yet?
