It was only last year that Too Faced took the world by storm and launched their Sweet Peach palette. I was lucky enough to have gotten my hands on it the first time around before they decided to re-release it with the addition of a highlighting palette, blush and a lipgloss (you can read about them here).
Fast forward to 2017 and Too Faced has done it again! Keeping on trend with their peaches theme, they recently launched the Peaches and Cream collection. While, I’m dying to get my hands on every single product the collection has to offer, I’m on a tight budget due to future travel plans. So, I picked up the product I wanted to try the most, the eyeshadow palette, of course!
I probably have way too many pink-toned palettes but I can’t help myself! They’re so much fun! I really like that this palette consists of all matte shades, while I’m slowly but surely becoming a fan of shimmer and glitter, I still like to stick with my mattes.
Upon arrival, I was happy to find that this palette wasn’t as small as the White Chocolate Chip palette that I picked up earlier this year (you can read about it here). The palette consists of a total of 12 shades ranging from peach and cream shades to browns. It retails for $55 CAD and $45 USD at Sephora and on the Too Faced website.
Like the Sweet Peach palette, I find that the scent of this palette is more subtle than the peach scent that’s infused in the Sweet Peach. In addition, this palette is infused with peach and sweet fig cream. The packaging of this palette is like the rest of the Too Faced palettes, it’s got a magnetic clasp. While I found my PB&J palette to be slightly flimsy when it came to the strength of the magnet, this one feels pretty strong, there’s also these really cute peaches at the opening of the palette.
I clearly didn’t plan out spacing very well when it came to swatching, so please, bear with me. I love that Too Faced really likes to categorize their shadows by row. Each row can be used for an eye look, starting from base/highlight, to full lid colour, and the smoky shades to smoke out the eyes. While they make it easy for you to figure out what shades to use if you’re stumped, you can also mix and match and really play around with the palette.
Moving onto the shades themselves, since I own the Sweet Peach and many other pink-toned eyeshadow palettes, I found some of these shades to be pretty similar to ones I already own. Nonetheless, I’m all for mixing and matching shades within this palette that I wouldn’t have imagined otherwise from other palettes.
I found most of the shades pretty buttery smooth like many of the Too Faced eyeshadows that I’ve tried. However, I did find a few feeling a little chalky and patchy, specifically Just Peachy, Peach Punch and Peach Sangria. Out of the 3 shades, I found Peach Sangria to be the most chalky feel. I’m sure I’ll be able to get use out of it since it’s a beautiful shade but a little disappointing.
Either way, I think the amount of buttery smooth shadows outweigh the ones that were slightly chalky and patchy feeling. I’m really happy that Too Faced launched a full matte palette influenced by their peach shades. I can definitely see myself travelling with this one a lot more than the Sweet Peach palette based solely on its more compact shape.
What are your thoughts on this palette? Did you pick anything up from the collection?
