When it comes to foundations, I have a pretty tough time finding my perfect shade, it’s always either too yellow or too pink for me. Even if I find the right shade, the coverage or finish may not be what I’m looking for. I know you can relate to the struggle.

I was lucky enough to be able to try out the Shiseido Synchro Skin Lasting Liquid Foundation in the shade Neutral 2. It comes in 10 shades, ranging from neutral, golden and rose tones. The foundation is said to be long-lasting, provide a feel of the skin’s natural and healthy look as well as be full coverage. It
The foundation is available at The Bay and retails for $58 CAD. There is also a Synchro Skin Glow with SPF 30 for a luminous finish. The Synchro Skin Glow is a light to medium coverage foundation and is available in 10 shades.
To put this to the test, I applied my usual Hourglass Mineral primer and then applied one pump of product, using a damp beauty blender to blend onto the face. The packaging of the foundation is in a nice curved bottle, allowing some sort of grip when being held. I’m a big fan of the pump that it comes with, this allows less air to go into the bottle, making it a lot more sanitary to use.

Upon first application, I noticed it didn’t fully cover my acne scars, mind you, they are darker than most acne spots. I did end up adding more coverage with concealer afterwards. My initial thought was the shade itself was a little lighter than my actual skin tone, however, with winter slowly creeping up on us, I’m sure it’ll be a perfect match this winter. I really like the finish of the foundation, it leaves my face looking semi-matte, which is the perfect finish that I’m looking for.
After completing the rest of my look with the Shiseido Inkstroke gel eyeliner and their Rouge Rouge lipstick, I found the foundation to look a little drying and patchy on my skin. There were parts that looked like they were clinging to dry spots that weren’t present before.

While, the dry patches that showed on the skin wasn’t something I was very happy with, I’m sure a simple change in primer or applicator will do the trick. All in all, I can definitely see myself reaching for this foundation more in the upcoming months.
Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts on it?
