Full Frontal Volume Mascara Review || Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

Wow, hello! It’s been about 6 months since I last wrote a post and while I’ve had many drafts and attempts at writing one, I was never in the right headspace to fully commit and follow through with it. So, hello to my new readers and the ones that have stayed with me throughout this 6-month hiatus that I disappeared to! Hope you’re all doing well!

I thought I’d pop in with a quick mascara review of the new Full Fontal Volume Mascara by Fenty Beauty. This beauty is available at Sephora, it retails for $32 CAD/$24 USD. I’ll be quick to say I’m a big fan of the direction that Fenty Beauty has taken and the many products that they’ve launched, along with all their success along the way! I remember when they first launched and I had no idea what to pick up, I won’t bore you with all the details, but I do have a post about it here.

MOVING ON! The mascara itself is currently available in one shade only, ‘Cuz I’m Black,’ it promotes that it is an all-in-one mascara that provides full volume, curls, lifts, and lengthens. It advertises its flat-to-fat brush with the flat side to define curls and the fat side to volumize and lift the lashes. The formulation of the mascara is water-resistant and is said to have a longwear formula to ensure it stays on all day.

For some background info, my lashes are pin straight, they don’t hold a curl super well when it comes to non-waterproof mascara. My HG mascara is still the Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes mascara with the Fairy Drops Quattro Waterproof Mascara (super hard to find) coming in at second.

As usual, I started with curling my lashes with my trusty Shu Uemura eyelash curler, followed with the mascara right after. The flat-to-fat brush takes a little getting used to, I’m so used to just swiping whichever side of the brush on my lashes to apply product that it took a few tries to get the hang of the flat side to define the curls and the fat side to give my lashes some lift and volume.

Evidently in the photos above, the eye on the left are the state of my lashes after immediate application and some q-tip clean up of any excess blobs of mascara surrounding my eye. The photo on the right is the state of my eye after about 15 minutes of wear. The curl of my lashes have drooped a bit and aren’t as much as I’d like them to look.

If my lashes held up throughout the day and looked like the first photo that was taken immediately after application, I’d be giving this mascara a straight up 5-star because that’s usually how I like my lashes to look and it’s nice that it’s a water-resistant mascara making my nighttime makeup removal routine a little easier with just a makeup remover wipe and not a cleansing oil before my cleanser.

All-in-all, it’s a decent mascara, I probably wouldn’t reach for it unless I had no other mascaras at home and was in a rush since it does do a pretty good job at adding volume to my lashes.

Have you tried this mascara? What’s your holy grail mascara?
